Beggars can’t be chickens…or can they?
Beggars can’t be chickens.. or can they?
Cooking a chicken in clay is a most fun and delicious endeavour.
I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE, BUT I CAN’T DO THAT… WELL MAYBE.
Wahhhh, it’s almost Fall and I just want my Meatloaf Mummy!!I
I know meatloaf is a classic childhood (and adult) comfort food for many, but I am really squeezing my brain matter to see if even a nostalgic drop of memory includes a meatloaf meal growing up. Nope. Nada… not my family’s bag. I really can’t recall my first date with a Meatloaf (save for listening to the band which I love very much) but trying this staple of North American cuisine did not don on me ‘til at least my 20s (I think)
CRABBY PANTS
Pandemic Moods and West Coast Memories…
Once upon a time in Vancouver’s old school Chinatown we used to go to a restaurant called the On On. It’s no longer there, but apparently Pierre Trudeau used to amble on in from time to time with a modest security detail to enjoy a meal in this less than fancy, but much beloved establishment.. it was that good. Downstairs we ate in a long, drab olive green painted room lined with booth seating. Every once in awhile we ate in the tiny red attic.. maybe it was the fancy room for a fancy occasion?! It didn’t matter. It was the crab in black bean sauce that I remember (along with a lot of other dishes) and that’s what I’ve been craving the past few days and why I got a wok (albeit a crappy wok)
IN THE BEGINNING…
Soft boiled opening..
I keep trying to writing something formal (yawn), but I think I like writing from the hip. I’ll have more to say about this Eat, Clay, Love Blog in a bit, but it needs a little more time to set in the oven, so please do circle back. In the mean time skip to the next blog entry, Crabby Pants. Like other entries it is plucked from my faves rounded up from the social media platforms I post with abandon on.
